What three words would you use to describe yourself?
Enthusiastic, believer, thinker.
What sparked your interest in health and led you to pursue your current career path?
I grew up in a village and I've always been really active since childhood. I began playing volleyball at the age of 10 and continued until I turned 18. That's when I chose physiotherapy as my university bachelor degree. I was not exactly sure what I wanted to work with, but the passion of being active, getting to learn about the body on a physical and a mental level, and helping others — led me to this education.
I’ve always been into self-development. When I was around 21, I struggled a bit with my health. I was stressed, I had stomach issues, breakouts and irregular cycles. Experiencing this turned me towards a more holistic mindset and I started to search and find root causes of my issues. Even though the doctors said only pills would help me get my period back, I managed to heal my body by the age of 24. Fast forward to now, I’m 26 and my body is stronger than ever and I’ve never felt more connected to it.
A year ago, I started coaching and training people in a fitness center, with the intention of helping others become stronger, healthier and more confident. I also started sharing my perspective on health, my lifestyle and mindset more openly on social media. I’ve found such joy inspiring, and connecting with others.
Can you take us through your morning routine and explain how it sets the tone for your day?
I’m currently in a place where I would like to improve my morning routine a bit, haha! Right now, it looks something like this:
I usually wake up between 5 and 6 am as I have to be at the gym around 6-7 am almost every day of the week. So unfortunately, I don’t have much time in the mornings. After waking up, I quickly set my intentions for the day in order to know what kind of day is ahead of me. Everyday is a bit different in my line of work. Then I check my phone and messages, which is actually a habit I really want to give up. First things first, I drink a lot of fresh alkaline and ionized water, take some supplements, and a super greens blend. Then I do my skincare and put on minimal makeup. Sometimes I have my coffee while I’m getting ready, or I take it with me. On better days, I’m able to delay drinking coffee until 8-9 am. I like to have 2-3 bites of food or a small breakfast if I’m hungry. I usually go for overnight oats, a banana or skyr. I don’t always eat this early, I like to have breakfast a bit later, and at a slower pace.
After that I pick out a cute and comfy gym outfit based on how I’m feeling that day. Then I pack my bag. I always bring water with me and food as well, if I’m away for many hours. I usually keep my journal and a book in my bag if I have some spare time during my gaps to write, plan, or read. I always bike to work which takes me around 5-15 minutes, depending on the location I’m going to.
If I don’t have enough time in the mornings and have to rush, I start the day stressed and end up feeling frustrated and chaotic all day. I need at least an hour to not rush through my morning routine. I would also like to implement daily meditation and gratitude journaling in my mornings, even if it is just for 10 minutes. I used to do it in the past, and it helped me to stay more grounded, grateful and calm during the day. I still do these practices every now and then, but not really in the mornings, rather at some point during the day.
What is your approach to fitness and physical activity?
The main three things I like to consider daily are:
1) How do you feel?
2) Listen to your body
3) Move your body
Physical activity is something you get to do, and not something you have to do. It’s a gift that you are able to move. My approach is pretty holistic. The body is complex. I like to try out different training styles and sports. I focus on strength training, improving the cardiovascular system and doing mobility work. Don’t forget that daily walks are super important and beneficial as well.
My goal is to think in a long term way for longevity, being healthy, staying healthy, feeling energetic, maintaining what I have and improving myself day by day. Being strong and feeling your power is amazing to experience.
How do you support your mental health and wellbeing?
- Quiet moments where I’m not watching tv or listening to radio at all.
- Meditation, breathing techniques, journaling - I practice those things almost on a daily basis.
- I like inspiring podcasts, speeches, and reading books on self development.
- Surround myself with heartful, positive and like-minded people
- I try to stay away from processed food. The cleaner I eat, the clearer my mindset is. I’m not a fan of alcohol either.
What is the highlight of your typical day, and why does it stand out for you?
When someone I've trained or had a conversation with reaches out to tell me that they feel good about themselves, that their mood has improved, or that I inspired them, it really means a lot to me. It’s such a nice confirmation that I am doing something right, and that I’ve been able to contribute to their wellbeing in a positive way.
What is a fulfilling life to you?
Having a purposeful job that brings me joy and gives me energy. Helping others, having freedom and enough time for myself and my loved ones. Belonging to a group of like-minded people. Being energized. Watching sunsets. Living a slow life.
What are three kitchen essentials you always keep stocked?
Oats, frozen berries and protein powder.
What book have you read that you would recommend to others, and why?
Anatomy of the Spirit - Caroline Myss.
It discusses illnesses and physical disorders, as well as symptoms, based on our emotional state or life situations. I’m a big believer that emotions have a huge impact on the body. When I read the book I could relate to the issues I’ve experienced. It is so interesting to gain a new perspective and awareness.
Favorite spot in Copenhagen?
Choosing only one?…… I adore Yum Yoga & Café!
What are your favorite Pure Lime products and why?
It’s hard to choose just one. The Pure Training Shorts and The Invisible Sports Top are both super comfortable and stylish. They provide good support during both heavy and high-intensity training, holding everything in place without feeling too tight. This is the perfect combination I’m always looking for.
